About the Speaker:
Chris Moon is a former British Army officer who worked for a charity specialising in clearing land mines in Asia and Africa. He is one of the few westerners to have survived being taken prisoner in Cambodia by Khmer Rouge guerrillas. In 1995 in Mozambique he was blown up walking in a cleared area resulting in the loss of his lower right arm and leg. Less than a year after leaving hospital he completed the London Marathon and subsequently run many of the world’s toughest marathons for charities. In 1996, Chris was awarded an MBE and two years later, in recognition of his humanitarian work, he was given the honour of carrying the Olympic Flame into the stadium at the opening ceremony of the Nagano Winter Olympics. His achievements have been featured in the media, with coverage in national newspapers, magazine articles, TV and radio. His autobiography “One Step Beyond” has been highly acclaimed. Chris talks with passion and humour on: the process of achievement; overcoming challenges; mind-set; motivation; leadership; risk; health and safety. Chris has been speaking and running personal and team development programs obtaining top results for ten years.
