Strawberry Hill: We were at full capacity for the YCL Art Circle private tour of Strawberry Hill House & Garden's Lost Treasures of Strawberry Hill: Masterpieces from Horace Walpole's Collection. Edwin C. ‘E.C.’ Schroeder's introduction to Strawberry Hill and Horace Walpole by way of the Lewis Walpole Library and the Yale connection was both enriching and stirred the alumni spirit; as Benedikt Koehler observed, it was 'nice to be at the birthplace of neo-gothic architecture, since so much of Yale architecture is a distant descendant'. Michael Snodin's guided private tour through the house shrouded in the darkness of winter was like time travel. For many of us, it was our first visit to Strawberry Hill but certainly not our last. Special thanks to Nicole L. Bouché, W.S. Lewis Librarian & Executive Director of The Lewis Walpole Library, for bringing this exhibition to our attention and helping make this very special tour possible.
