About the Event

Join YCL Art Circle for the 2020 iteration of our yearly 'Asian Art in London' gallery crawl in Mayfair and St James's, curated by Nixi Cura (SY '88). In keeping with Tier 2 lockdown rules, all gallery visits will be booked in advance, all individuals will maintain social distancing, and we will employ social media to embark on a hunt for treasures. Participants should bring a face covering and smartphone equipped with WhatsApp and the NHS COVID-19 app (for establishments that require it for contact tracing).

About 'Asian Art in London'

During this annual event, participating museums, dealers and auction houses offer exhibitions, sales and lectures on Asian art. From 22 October to 7 November 2020, these venues welcome curators, collectors, students and art aficionados with Covid-19 policies in place.

About Nixi Cura

Nixi is Hon. Res. Fellow at the University of Glasgow and Doctoral Researcher at SOAS University of London. In 2007-2017, Nixi was Director of the Arts of China MLitt and PhD programmes at Christie's Education/University of Glasgow. At Yale she read East Asian Studies, then studied Chinese painting, Buddhist art, and European Romanesque art at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. Her current research interests include: Qing (1644-1911) art and archaeology; collecting and antiquarian practices in the Qing, Republican and Manchukuo periods; and contemporary Chinese visual culture.
