Kamilla Arku (BK '05)
for the
2014 Music for Liberia Charity Concert
, an evening of classical, jazz and African music in support of education projects in Liberia. Since 2008 Music for Liberia, whose efforts have been recognized by Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has worked with leading musicians to support education projects in Liberia. This year, Music for Liberia is working with UK-based charity Street Child, a charity that creates opportunities through education for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Music for Liberia’s annual fundraising concert will take place on June 14th at St. Gabriel's church, Pimlico, and will feature performances from acclaimed artists including the Heath Quartet, Charles Owen, Kadialy Kouyate, Alice Zawadzki, Kamilla Arku and young musicians from east London's Kuumba Youth Music. All funds raised from the concert will be doubled through UK Aid and will go directly towards funding a village education project in Liberia.
The concert will be followed by a reception of home-cooked West African food.
