Dr Craig Crews, a leading light both on the research and the biotech front, will be holding a roundtable for YCL members on Monday, April 1st. His field of expertise covers not only pure oncology research, but drug development, biotech startups and bringing drugs to market. Whether your interest is from the business, biotech or purely research perspective, or indeed if you are a layperson with cancer-related experiences simply wanting to learn more, there is no doubt you will get much from this evening. We strongly urge you to come along.
About the Speaker:
Dr Crews is the American Cancer Society Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and holds joint appointments in the departments of Chemistry and Pharmacology at Yale University. He graduated from the U. Virginia with a B.A. in Chemistry and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in Biochemistry. On the faculty at Yale since 1995, Dr. Crews has a foothold in both the academic and biotech arenas. His field of expertise is academic drug development (oncology- and neurodegeneration-focused). Research summary: Professor Crews works at the interface of chemistry and biology and uses chemical approaches to address biological questions. This curiosity-driven basic research lends itself to applications in drug development. Over the years, Professor Crews has started several biotech companies and has one FDA-approved drug, Kyprolis™, that stemmed from research in his lab.
